Domaine Vernussd

Location: France

Guillaume Rouget (son of the famous Emmanuel Rouget who was the apprentice of the legendary Burgundian grand master Henri Jayer), and Frédéric Jametton have joined forces to create a new project in the Beaujolais. Domaine Vernus is located in the hillside town of Régnié-Durette in the heart of the region. They now farm around 12ha in and around the village. Most of the vineyards consist of old vines planted in granit soils. The farming is done on a lutte raisonnée basis where sustainability and maintaining biodiversity is key.

The domaine takes the traditional Burgundian winemaking approach rather than using Beaujolais’s well known (semi) carbonic maceration. The signature wine of Vernus is the wine from the Regnie which is fragrant and structured, and could be one of the lightest style of the 10 Beaujolais crus. Expect Beaujolais greenness combined with Burgundy suaveness.
