Domaine Bornard
From the village of Pupillin, near Arbois, we bring Domaine Bornard, a producer who cultivates around 12.5 hectares of vines between Côtes de Jura and Arbois appellations.
Young Thibaud Brocard is the fifth generation of Champagne Brocard Pierre to lead the domaine near the village of Celles-sur-Ource in Côte de Bars in the easternmost part of the region. Côte des Bar, located about an hour north of Chablis in the Aube department of France, is a borderland between Champagne and Burgundy. It was part of Burgundy for centuries until the French Revolution. This cultural association still forms the basis for the region’s winemaking philosophy.
The vision of Thibaud is pretty straightforward: Produce enjoyable and wellmade wines with as little intervention as possible while still showcasing the typicity of the area. Simple, right? The main work takes place in the vineyards where Thibaud and his team spends most of the waking hours. This work lays the foundation for creating the style the Brocard is known for.
Côte de Bars is one of the few areas in Champagne where Pinot Blanc still plays a significant role. So while most of the wines consist of Chardonnay, Pinot Noir and Pinot Meunier, you will also find wines that are primarily made on Pinot Blanc.
We are very happy to work with Thibaud and his wines, and we are excited to share them with you.

Filippo makes wines with his wife Nancy on the Italian island of Sicily in shadow of the smoldering volcano, Etna. They met in Belgium many years ago while working in the restaunrant industry. Now, they farm around 4ha on a plot of around 20.
This is very much a family business with mom, pops, and the two children doing all the work in both vineyard, cellar, and in the office. Piero Busso is still at the helm of the domaine that he established in the early 1950s.
