100% Blaufrankisch from the Altenberg vineyard. The 30 year old vines are grown in sandy loam with chalk, with south-west exposure. The spontaneous fermentation takes place in a large wooden fermenter, and malolactic fermentation is in barriques. The Altenberg is matured 24 months in 225l and 500l barrels with 50% new oak. Aged for one more year in bottle before release. It is a dense, structured wine that has an enormous amount of freshness.
