Ameixambar from Adega Do Vulcão is a blend of Arinto dos Açores and Terrantez do Pico. The vines are planted in volcanic soils (some of them having been recovered from the massive eruption in 1957) which gives the wine a unique sense of place.
The grapes are hand-harvested and pressed into egg-shaped cement tanks where the juice undergoes spontaneous fermentation and aging for around 10 months. The combination of the remarkable terroir and style of production gives the Ameixambar an ultra crisp and saline expression while also keeping a lush and round sensation of fruit.
