At the Château de Chambolle-Musigny, Jacques-Frédéric Mugnier traded a career as an airline pilot for the vines his family had farmed for generations, taking full charge of the domaine in the 1980s. Patiently, he recovered parcels long leased to others, among them the monopole Clos de la Maréchale in Nuits-Saint-Georges. The result is some of Chambolle-Musigny's most ethereal Pinot Noir, pale, perfumed and precise, built for patience rather than immediate pleasure.
