The Hilt is the cool-climate sister to Jonata and Screaming Eagle within Stan Kroenke's California stable, but planted firmly in Santa Barbara's foggy Sta. Rita Hills rather than Napa. Under winemaker Matt Dees it chases a Burgundian sensibility from prized sites such as Bentrock and Radian. The result is restrained, site-driven Pinot Noir and Chardonnay built on native-yeast ferments, gentle oak and generous whole-cluster.
