Founded during the 13th century by the monks of Chartreux and sold to the Pignier in 1794 after the French revolution, Domaine Pignier is one of the few wine producing domaines left in the small village of Montaigu in the southern part of the Jura in France. The domaine has been family-run for eight generations, and they have been practicing organic and biodynamic farming since the late 90s. They farm 13 hectares of vine that grow on three separate plots with very different types of soil. The vineyards consist mainly of sandstone and limestone with an enormous amount of fossils from different Jurassic periods. Their wines are true expressions of Jura’s terroir – first rate!
